Dear Bishop Brossart High School Parents,

For those of you whom I have not had the pleasure of meeting let me now take the opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Ashley Vater and I have been the athletic trainer for Bishop Brossart since 2014.

I will be attending as many of the games and practices as possible and will be in the training room each day after school to evaluate and treat any injuries that your son/daughter may incur. If your son/daughter is in need of any preventative taping, I will be happy to do so before practices/games if needed.  In order to do my job to the best of my ability it is very important that I am made aware of all injuries and illnesses. All non-emergency injuries sustained this season while participating in Bishop Brossart athletics (games, practices, weights/conditioning) should, when possible, be evaluated by the athletic trainer prior to seeing a physician so that proper steps can be taken.  If your son/daughter sustains an injury that needs to be seen by a physician, I will be happy to help with scheduling that appointment, should you so desire.  I work in conjunction with Dr. Michael Miller and the staff at St Elizabeth Sports Medicine, as well as Dr. Karl Schmidt and can often speed up the process of scheduling these appointments.

It is imperative that all athletes who are seen by a physician get a note from their doctor stating their injury/illness and their status for practice.  Once an athlete has been held from practices/games by a physician, they must have a note from that physician stating that it is safe to return.  Athletes who do not have a note may be held from participation.

Best Regards,

Ashley Vater, ATC
